Ms. Ross’ practice includes general personal injury and automobile accident cases, insurance law (including bad faith), workers’ compensation and business tort litigation. She has extensive experience in the management of catastrophic injury cases and has developed a national practice.
Ms. Ross has represented parties in automobile accident, air crash, premises liability, product liability and employer liability cases, and she has developed an extensive background in the field of medicare and medicaid claim handling.
Before joining the team at Godfrey | Johnson, P.C., in 2009, Ms. Ross served for several years as a named partner in the respected firm of Schleuter, Mahoney & Ross, P.C., where she handled thousands of personal injury, medical device product liability and other complex tort cases. She has handled a number of complex nursing home liability cases.
Janet has handled a number of jury trials as lead counsel, as well as several trials to courts and full-contest workers compensation and disability proceedings. She has an extensive medical knowledge base, gained during her 30-year practice. She is familiar with most medical procedures and disability rating systems, as well as rehabilitation and medical treatment protocols.
Subrogation and liens: One area of significant emphasis in Ms. Ross’ practice is insurance subrogation. She has handled ERISA and general disability cases. She has developed a very effective method of dealing with various subrogation issues and interests in this area of law, which at present is in a true state of flux. She is well-versed in the Alborn and Seberoff issues and the equitable issues that currently drive the resolution of lien claims.
Disability claims: Janet has a deep understanding of medical disibility law and disability insurance coverage. She develops close relationships with clients and strives to foster a respectful and productive climate for the successful management of cases involving complex health-care issues, drawing on her experience and strength with complex medical issues, insurance law and personal injury litigation.
Janet’s social security disability and insurance experience enables her to coordinate benefits, manage primacy issues and subrogation rights, and formulate optimum strategies for the successful settlement of claims, including those claims in which special settlement considerations, such as trusts, structured settlements and other vehicles of claim resolution are necessary.
Ms. Ross’ strengths also include administrative law and regulatory issues relating to the administration of coverage benefits.
Family law: Ms. Ross has handled complex family law issues with international implications in both state and federal court.
